A Stone Big Band Show

Hey again Bloggers or whoever could be reading this blagh. And on this day finds itself as Occupy Wall Street Day 395. And Occupy Wall Street, that NYC Protest for World Revolution is still moving fast. And even in the midst of Occupy Wall street and Occupy Together, I still find myself blogging about music, music and music and music, music, and more music events to be found in that city of New York. And so another music event is happening at The Stone, that nightclub to be found in the Lower East side or the East Village for real estate marketing purposes in New York City. And those events to be found on Facebook and beyond read something like as follows:

Welf Dorr Unit at The Stone
October 30th, 8pm, tickets $10

Welf Dorr Unit is a new project that saw the light earlier this year with a well-received performance at Arts for Arts/Evolving Music Series. Welf Dorr on alto sax joins forces with Dave Ross on guitar, Dmitry Ishenko on bass and Joe Hertenstein on drums for a free jazz ride with structure and tinges of funk and rock.

Welf, originally from Munich (Germany), lives in New York since 1995 where he played and recorded with Sonny Simmons, Sabir Mateen and Juini Booth. He is a member of Karl Berger’s Improvisers Orchestra, Kenny Wollesen’s Himalayas and the Nublu Orchestra conducted by Butch Morris and works currently mostly with his brass band Underground Horns.

Dave Ross has played with nearly everybody of the downtown music scene and is mostly known for his work with William Hooker.

Bassist Dmitry Ishenko, originally from Russia, played on the very last concerts with Steve Lacy and is a member of the late John Tchicai's "Ascension Unending”.

Fellow German Joe Hertenstein is making a splash on the NY scene since 2007. He leads his trio HNH and has recently released Polylemma and Future Drone featuring Jon Iragabon.

Drawing inspiration from the outer realms and more into the squat politics of the East Village basement jam... a wild array of stylish zanies, freedom rings with poetry, polyrhythmic complexity and primal passions. Another world never imagined possible from the undying, ever growing counter culture crucible of downtown New York.".

And The Stone Rocks. Have a great big band music and more day.
