Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present. And so those preceding words were to be found as a quote in someones email that I received and elsewhere in life as one of those parables. And I still find myself reading, watching and listening to the news this past week of the latest natural disaster of an earthquake that has taken many lives along with it here on planet earth that has afflicted the city of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. And it seems to be a tragic event with images of devastation that represent the fragility of life as human beings that seem as if they are taken from the apocalypse. And in commentary of those photos of Haiti in the newspapers this past week, of armed military guards guarding piles of rubble, I am unable to comprehend, for what reason does one guard a pile of rubble. Haiti Matters to Brooklyn
An emergency fundraiser for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The event is a unified effort on the part of Brooklyn's musicians, artists, organizations, creative minds, and caring individuals.
We've had only 36 hours to put this thing together so far, and it would mean so much for you to show your support by blogging, posting, listing, or otherwise spreading the word. We're having a raffle of prizes donated by corporate sponsors and local businesses as well as works donated by local artists, live music all day/night, screenings, dancing, and an open bar courtesy of Brooklyn Brewery. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross' Haitian relief fund.
