Somehow I found myself following the story of the latest WBAI radio drama today. WBAI 99.5 Pacifica Radio is a listener sponsored radio station in the New York City area and one of the last community radio stations around that gives an alternative voice to the people. I have been listening to their radio station for seemingly forever. They are having their Local Station Board Elections now and so they had one of their candidate election debate forums and one of the many listener input and feedback radio programs today. And a radio drama indeed it is to hear the drama ramas of a radio station that seems to be in turmoil and whose radio drama goes way back in time with its listener sponsored board and its behind the scenes or not so behind the scenes stories on how its radio station functions. And everyone or hopefully everyone in their elections seems to want to save WBAI from itself and a seemingly continuation of a story told many years ago. And hearing all of these drama ramas at their meetings seems to reflect and mirror a microcosm of a current administration. What will be left without the voice of WBAI. Is it possible to help save WBAI and the world. Power To The People. And what does this have to do with a No Police State? The following are the candidates for this years WBAI 2007 Local Station Board Elections:
Listener-Sponsor candidates are: James Ross, Stefan S. Neustadter, Carla Cubit, Pat Logan, Robert M. Gold, Bernardo Palombo, Jennifer Jager, Albert B. Solomon, Rolando Bini, Kenneth Laufer, Marion Borsenstein, Tibby Brooks, Omowale Clay, Lisa Davis, Bok-keem Nyerre, Lee McClure-Come, Wellington Echegaray, Seth Goldberg, Sara Flounders, Don Mathieson and Marianella Trioche.
Staff candidates are: Delphine Blue, R. Paul Martin, Reggie Johnson, Vajra Kilgour, Cerene Roberts, Louis Reyes Rivera and Max Schmid.
Peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind.
