These Events

And sure enough there seems to be more events going on this weekend, beyond and more in this that City of New York. I know because these newspapers, brochures, flyers and postcards here before me say so. And there is this big full page advertisement in this weeks New York Press for this years Howl Festival 08 that honors the poet Allen Ginsberg in Tompkins Square Park with performers and venues that include Bowery Poetry Club, Gathering of the Tribes, Nuyorican Poets Cafe and St Mark´s Poetry Project, Bowery bartenders Shappy and Moonshine, Collapisble Poetics Theater Director Rodrigo Toscano, the Ultimate Street Poet, Kimm and Alexisa O´Hare, the Nuyorican All-Stars: Jamaal St. John, Rico Steal, Akua Doku and Adam Faulkner, rock port Todd Colby, CocoRosie´s MC Celena Glenn, Erica Kaufman, Simone White, The Mayhem Poets, Jade Sharma, Tsaurah Litzky, Marguerite Van Cook, Billy Lamonte, John Farris, Bob Holman, Art Around The Park, The Carl Solomon Book that includes Mark's Books, Punk Magazine, The Jack Kirby Museum, Bowery Poetry Club A Gathering of the Tribes, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, Rizzoli, Mocca, Ephemera Press, Judson Memorial Church, comics collectives World War 3 Illustrated, Act-i-vate, House of Twelve and more, Bang the Drum for the Brothers, J. And there's more events going on this weekend here, there in New York City...

And somehow I found myself at Lincoln Center yesterday to watch that concert by the "Spam Allstars" that is part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors music series at Damrosch Park. And that concert rocked. And all of those events are free. And their performers and performances include, included: Stephane Wrembel, Soledad Barrio, Noche Flamenca, Irma Thomas, Patti Smith, East Village Opera Company, Burkina Electric, Hal Willner, Adam Dorn, Vieux Farka Toure, Cheikh Lo, Mahmoud Ahmed, Alemayehu Eshete, Getatchew Mekurya, Martha Redbone, Vishal Vaid, Taiyo Na, Al Young, Marian Yalini, Regina Carter, Bob Belden, Mose Allison, Roberta Flack, Doug Elkins, Rhys Chatham, Fred Wesley, Betty Harris, Pete Seeger, Josh Haden, Petra Haden and many more. And this music series rocks also.
